AI PSO's mission and primary activity is to improve patient safety and the quality of health care delivery where artificial intelligence systems and autonomous agents are used in healthcare.
Once listed, AI PSO will let healthcare providers report patient safety events, near misses, and unsafe conditions involving AI systems for confidential analysis and feedback, within the protections of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 and 42 CFR Part 3. AI PSO shares de-identified lessons learned with participating providers to help reduce patient risk.
AI PSO applied to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) for initial listing in September 2026. It is not yet a listed PSO and is not yet accepting patient safety work product.
